T-Mobile Subscription Sees Increase before Orange Merger

Following the release of reports that T-Mobile would be merging with Orange, there has been a tremendous increase in T-Mobile’s subscribers. This merger is slated to go down in the UK history as one of the greatest mega-mergers, as it would lead to the birth of the UK’s largest mobile broadband operator.

During September alone, T-Mobile had almost 100,000 subscribers signing up, which did a lot to improve the company’s market standing, said Richard Moat, T-Mobile UK’s CEO, while speaking with The Times. The increase was 13% more than the last record in December 2007. Since 2007, things had only been downhill for T-Mobile, as its parent company Deutsche Telekom even cut down its value by a staggering 1.8 billion.

The cause for this upward thrust has been the company’s new ‘Free Texts for Life’ offer and its ‘pay as you go’ scheme, which was the biggest deal maker. The former was greatly publicised and it helped turn around the company’s fortune. Moat added that even the contract sales had shown an increase.

Orange had planned to purchase T-Mobile, but later had to settle for a merger with the company. However, with the recent enhancement in its market standing, T-Mobile has a good chance of tilting the scales in its favour during negotiations for the merger with Orange.

If you need more information on the ISPs, Broadband Genie’s comparative table of UK broadband providers includes an analysis of the products and services from all the internet service providers. I found some excellent Virgin Broadband deals, so take a look at their website; click on your provider, and check out the latest on broadband UK.
